UK Paris Trip Part 7 - Versailles & Eiffel

Palace of Versailles was the most anticipated agenda of our trip. I had read its history, story of Marie Antionette and seen its pictures online. All these fascinates me and I couldn't wait to see this place for myself.

THAT was.. before I arrived at its doorsteps.

We arrived early at Versailles Station and decided to enjoy some coffee at McCafe. The coffee were good... until the next train arrived. A swarm, an army (or whatever you can call it) of tourists walked out from the station and to our horror, they're advancing to the direction of the palace!

We gulped down our hot coffee but that didn't save anything. A queue more magnificent than the Palace of Versailles itself awaited us. That's when I learned that Europeans are expert Q-cutters.

As if the crowds at the outside was not frightening enough, the crowds inside the building is even more intimidating. We felt like herds of duck being led into one room to another room, and another room without stopping.  The portable audio guide drove us nuts because the numbers stated at the exhibit doesn't correspond with the narration in the guide.

Bored, I played around with my new Canon S95.

All these glamours and splendors could not cure my headache from the deafening noise that echoed through the whole palace.

A view of Versailles Jardine (garden) from the window. Beautiful, but we will need to fork out extra money to walk in the garden.

Enticing French pastries sold in the palace with prices that match Marie Antoinette.

While people are admiring the palace, I was admiring these Laduree macarons.

While Laduree was too exorbitantly expensive, McCafe's macarons were more acceptable at 0.90 Euro each. We returned to the same McCafe cum McDonald opposite the train station to have our lunch.

If there are two things we miss about Paris, that would be McWrap and Latte Macchiato (2.30 Euro). The McWrap is a happy-ever-after version of our pathetic Chicken Foldover in Malaysia.

Smooth dreamy Latte Macchiato which is only available in McCafe.

We can't said we had been to Paris until we had walked Champ Elysees (statue of Charles de Gaulle is near Champs Elysees),

and see the world's largest Louis Vuitton boutique.

and take a photo of Arc de Triomphe in the middle of the traffic,

until we stand beneath it.

And we can't go back until we see Eiffel Tower and take pictures of it in the day (picture was taken around 5pm),

And at night. We waited until 11pm for it to light up but my Canon's battery went flat and this was taken with my Xperia phone.
